"The Nightshift" is the 13th episode of Season 3, and the 39th overall. It originally aired on February 1, 2012.

Story[]

The season begins to wrap up with only about a month left. At Indian River, the Hoffman Crew breaks into two shifts. Dave Turin's crew runs during the day, while Todd Hoffman's crew runs at night. However, the nightshift begins to run the washplant too hard, which causes the water to erode the ground near the end. This causes Turin's crew to fix the issue and not get as much paydirt, which forces the nightshift to run dirt at night, a very dangerous endeavor. In the end, the Hoffmans break a record by getting 137oz in a single clean out, bringing them to over 400oz total.

In Porcupine Creek, "Dakota" Fred, Dustin Hurt, and Melody continue digging their glory hole. However, despite Fred's dismay, Dustin buys a gold dredger to get gold from the bottom, which gains over 14oz.

At the Big Nugget Mine, Parker Schnabel begins to dig on their new Discovery claim. After a wash plant breakdown, they are able to get over 40oz.
