"On the Gold" is the 8th episode of Season 2 of Gold Rush, and the 18th overall. It originally aired on December 16, 2011.
Story[]
While running dirt, the Hoffman dozer breaks down. Unfortunately, James Harness tries to fix it, but becomes severely hurt again. He then goes on a plane back to Oregon for medical help, as Todd Hoffman hires two mechanics to fix the problem. After it was fixed, they get over 4 ounces of gold in one day.
After Paul Behn left, Fred Hurt decides to hire another miner to keep up with the tailings, and finds 18.9 ounces of gold, winning the bet to Jack Hoffman in the prior episode (Fred bet he could get more gold in a week, then what the Hoffmans had all last year).
Meanwhile, Parker Schnabel has only four weeks until school starts again. He digs deeper into the virgin land, and only finds small amounts of gold.
The episode ends showing clips of what will still happen before the end of the season.
